The Academy is a biennial event organized by the Arab Council for the Social Sciences to provide an opportunity for junior researchers in the Arab region to engage with critical theory and analysis, advanced writing, professionalization skills and networking.
(1) Preparing junior researchers for cross-disciplinary research that critically interrogates social and humanistic research questions through: exploring guiding concepts in Arab critical thought; understanding genealogies and canons of leading theories and frameworks relevant to the region; constructively evaluating academic research and writing; collaborating with peers from across the Arab region and incorporating learnings from the academy into research.
(2) Providing a space for participants to present their research and receive verbal and written feedback from the faculty members as well as from other participants
(3) Bringing participants and faculty members together in order to discuss issues around publishing, teaching and other professional concerns
