In Collaboration With The Latin American Council of the Social Sciences (CLASCO)
As part of its identity and mission, the ACSS strongly believes in the importance of engaging in South-South, cross-regional and global collaborations. Thus, it seeks to become an entity through which Arab researchers would engage in robust collaborations and networking across and within regions of the Global South, and become integrated into cross-regional and global research projects and social science convenings.
In 2021 the ACSS partnered with the Latin American Council of Social Sciences (CLACSO) and the Polytechnic University of Mozambique in a South-South project on “The Right to Education: Perspectives from the Global South”. The project included the formation of CLACSO and ACSS-based working groups that engaged in/ supervised the preparation of regional reports and country analyses on the right to higher education with a focus on transition from secondary to higher education, enrolment, retention and completion. The project also aimed to build a network of thought leaders, researchers, activists, teachers, students as well as members of communities that advocate for the right to education from the Global South that would ultimately present new paradigms, perspectives and realities emerging from the Global South as well as de-colonial approaches based on diversity, inclusion and equality.
