Research on the Arts Working Group (RAPWG)

About

Established in 2022, the purpose of the working group is to investigate the relationship between arts and the social sciences and identify gaps and research agenda/s on writing on the arts in the Arab region. The activities of the working group are informed by the four-cycle collaboration between the ACSS and the Arab Fund for Arts and Culture (AFAC) on the Research on the Arts (RAP) research grants program.

Members

Members of the Working Group are:

– Driss Ksikes, fiction and nonfiction writer, playwright and scholar 
– Ismail Nashef, Associate Professor of Anthropology, Doha Institute for Graduate Studies in Qatar
– Kirsten Scheid, associate professor of Anthropology at the American University of Beirut
– Tarek El Ariss, professor and chair of Middle Eastern Studies at Dartmouth College
