Third ACSS Research Forum (2018)

Date: April 4th-7th, 2018

The Arab Council for the Social Sciences (ACSS) held its Third Research Forum in Amman, Jordan in April 2018.

About

Participants were drawn from the following ACSS programs: the Research Grants Program on Environmentalism, Impoverishment and Social Justice Movements, the Postdoctoral Fellowships Program, and the Small Grants Program. In addition to grantees’ research presentation and discussion sessions, the research event included roundtables on research ethics in the social sciences; careers, research and action; funding opportunities in the Arab region; critical reengagement with Arab theories; writing and publishing in Arabic; and ways of involvement with the ACSS.

The Plenary on the first day of the Forum included a panel organized by the Arab Social Science Monitor (ASSM) titled “Arab Social Sciences: Where, What and Who?”. The panel aimed to introduce the ACSS and the ASSM to the Jordanian public, and present an overview of the objectives and content of the Arab Social Science Reports, which are one of the key ASSM publications.
