The American Political Science Association (APSA) is pleased to announce a Call for Applications from early-career scholars based in the Arab MENA region who are interested in attending the 2019 Summer Program of the Institute of Qualitative and Multi-Methods Research (IQMR), held at the Maxwell School of Syracuse University.
Together with IQMR, APSA will sponsor up to 3 scholars based in the Arab MENA region (those whose primary institutional affiliation is in the US or Europe are not eligible) to attend the 2-week training program on June 17-28, 2019.
The IQMR Summer Program seeks to enable participants to create and critique methodologically sophisticated qualitative research designs, including case studies, tests of necessity or sufficiency, and narrative or interpretive work. It explores the techniques, uses, strengths, and limitations of these methods, while emphasizing their relationships with alternative approaches. Attendees will have the opportunity to receive constructive feedback on their own research designs. While the final schedule and reading list for the 2019 program is being finalized, applicants can refer to the 2018 program for more information. Also, a 2019 module description is available here.
Selected participants will have their participation costs waived - a roundtrip economy-class airfare, as well as shared-accommodation and board for the duration of the program. Participants will be responsible for securing their visa to the United States and covering any miscellaneous expenses. Participants must be proficient in English and commit to attending the 2-week program in full. The summer sessions commence on June 17 and continue until the evening of June 28, with a two-day break on June 22 and 23. Participants should plan to arrive to Syracuse no later than Sunday June 16 and depart on the evening of June 28 or the morning of Saturday June 29.
To apply for the 2019 program, please follow the instructions on the Application Form. All application materials must be in English and uploaded in a pdf or Word file format.
