The Issam Fares Institute for Public Policy and International Affairs (IFI) at the American University of Beirut (AUB) seeks to recruit a Research Assistant for its Civil Society & Policy-making in the Arab World Program.
About the Program
The Civil Society Actors & Policy-making in the Arab World Program at the Issam Fares Institute for Public Policy and International Affairs examines the role that civil society actors play in shaping and making policies. Specifically, the program focuses on the following aspects: how civil society actors organize themselves into advocacy coalitions; how policy networks are formed to influence policy processes and outcomes; and how policy research institutes translate their research into policy.

Principal Responsibilities:

Conduct desktop research and literature reviews;

Assist with the interviews and data collection when needed;

Support research team in drafting reports and proposals;

Organize meetings, workshops, lectures, and conferences related to the program;

Maintain records of all relevant documents (hard and soft copies);

Assist the Lead Investigator and Project Coordinator in other relevant tasks of the research program, including providing administrative support.
Qualifications:

Master’s degree in social sciences or a relevant field is preferred but, candidates with a Bachelor’s degree with relevant research experience will also be considered;

One to three years’ work experience preferable;

Excellent command of English and Arabic is a must (spoken, read and written);

Excellent administrative and organizational skills;

Ability to work pro-actively, independently and efficiently;

Ability to conduct interviews in Arabic.
Duration: Six months on a full-time basis (renewable)
