NYU Abu Dhabi is currently inviting applications for a tenured or tenure-track appointment at any level (assistant, associate, or full professor) for its Arab Crossroads Program to begin in September 2016. Applicants must hold a Ph.D. by the time of appointment. We especially invite applications from historians of the Modern Middle East, but are also open to scholars from other disciplines who have a specific research interest in the region and are able to teach introductory and advanced courses on Modern Middle Eastern History.
The Arab Crossroads Studies Program is an interdisciplinary area-studies program at NYUAD that focuses on historical, social, intellectual, political, and cultural connections between the Arab world and its neighbors. For more information about the program, please visit the NYU Abu Dhabi website.
The terms of employment are competitive and include housing and educational subsidies for children. Members of NYU Abu Dhabi standing faculty receive generous support for research and travel. The teaching load is three undergraduate courses per year (semester system), including at least one in the core curriculum. Faculty may also spend time at NYU New York and other sites of the global network, engaging in both research and teaching opportunities. The appointment might begin as soon as September 1, 2016; with a later start date possible, pending candidate availability.

Applications will be reviewed beginning November 1st and will continue until the position is filled. To be considered, candidates should submit a Curriculum Vita, cover letter, one-page teaching and research statements, representative publications and three letters of reference, all in PDF format.
