NYU Abu Dhabi is currently inviting applications for a tenured or tenure-track appointment at any level (assistant, associate, or full professor) for its Literature Program. Applicants should offer a special area of research and teaching dealing with literature from the Middle Eastern region writ large (North Africa and Egypt, the Levant, the Arabian Peninsula, and/or diasporas of the Arabic world). A complementary teaching and/or research interest in pre-modern Arabic will be considered favorably. We are seeking scholars with an active research and publishing agenda, and a demonstrated commitment to undergraduate teaching. The terms of employment are competitive and include housing and educational subsidies for children. Members of NYU Abu Dhabi standing faculty receive generous support for research and travel. The teaching load is three undergraduate courses per year (semester system), including at least one in the core curriculum. Faculty may also spend an occasional semester at NYU New York and sites of the global network, engaging in both research and teaching opportunities. The appointment will begin as soon as September 2015, with a later start date possible, pending candidate availability. Review of applications will begin on October 15th, 2014 and continue until the position is filled. To be considered, candidates should submit a Curriculum Vita, cover letter, statements of research and teaching interests, twenty-page writing sample or representative publications, and three letters of reference, all in PDF format. Senior candidates are not required to submit references at this time.
