"The Future of Human Mobility in the Context of Digitalization, Climate Change and the Turbulent World Order"

About this research topic:
This Research Topic invites submissions that explore the current impact of digitization on human mobility and the implications of that for the futures of mobility in an uncertain world. It seeks papers that look across regions (big South vs. big North) and across-borders where human mobility (in all its forms) crosscuts, influences and is influenced by geo-political agendas, economic trends, international relations, and environmental policies, all of which are today shaped by global technological trends. Particular attention will be invested into the implications of some, if not all these factors, on the future of migration trends and the policies that regulate them. Three broad themes are identified, but not inclusive; a) migration; the world order & strategic foresights policies; b) environmentally induced human mobility; and c) potential future impacts of digitization and digitized forecasting system on migration patterns. Notably, with its trans-disciplinary scope, the question of human mobility herein is expected to be treated as the central unit of analysis, be that a qualitative, quantitative or mixed-method investigation.
