The Arab Council for Social Sciences (ACSS) is a regional, independent, non-profit organization dedicated to strengthening social sciences research and knowledge production in the Arab World.
The ACSS is recruiting for the following position:
Assistant to the Director General (DG) / Program Assistant for Special Projects
Main responsibilities:
- Assistance with any programs managed by the DG, including organizing activities, follow up with participants, preparing agenda books and background materials, preparing reports on activities.
- Assisting with Working Groups managed by the DG and collaborating with other staff working on those programs.
- Providing support for any external consultants working directly with the DG.
- Following up on any collaborations with institutions/individuals led by the DG.
- Organizing regional and international panels that are led by the DG.
- Supporting DG in incubating new and special projects.
- Assisting DG in compiling and finalizing Donor’s reports and grant proposals.
- Following up on DG’s calendar, daily schedule and travel schedule.
- Organizing DG's meetings with ACSS staff and external network.
- Help organize travel expenses and corporate card expenses of DG.
- Taking notes on meetings between DG and staff or external collaborators.
- Upkeep of files in DG office.
- Helping with office-wide activities such as the ACSS conference, Research Forum and Academy.
Qualifications:
- Minimum BA degree preferably in the Social Sciences or Humanities with 3 years of experience in an administrative, communications and /or other functional support role.
- Languages: Perfect Arabic and English. French is an asset.
- Excellent communication skills (writing & speaking).
- Excellent organizational skills.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel and Power Point).
