Job Opportunity: Program Manager, ACSS

The Arab Council for the Social Sciences (ACSS) is a regional, independent, non-profit organization dedicated to strengthening social science research and knowledge production in the Arab world. By supporting researchers and academic/research institutions, the ACSS aims to contribute to the creation, dissemination, validation and utilization of social science research and to enrich public debate about the challenges facing Arab societies.
 
The ACSS is recruiting for the position of Program Manager to be based in Lebanon. The Program Manager is responsible for developing, establishing, and overseeing one or more programs of the ACSS, and for coordinating with all stakeholders in relation to these programs.
 
Main Accountabilities:
  • Planning, designing, implementing, administering, and evaluating assigned programs.
  • Working closely with all the program/s stakeholders including grantees, consultants, and selection committee members.
  • Preparing and administering program budgets, with administrative oversight.
  • Coordinating with the Finance & Administration Manager on all legal, financial, and administrative matters related to the programs.
  • Monitoring grantees’ progress, reviewing their reports, and preparing reports as needed for the ACSS management and/or funders.
  • Analyzing policies and procedures to improve program efficiency and effectiveness.
  • Developing programs to create community awareness of service availability.
  • Assisting the Director General in fundraising activities and preparing proposals.
Educational Requirements:
PhD in Social Science or any of its disciplines
 
Knowledge, Technical Skills, and Experience:
  • At least 5 years of experience in management of similar activities.
  • Knowledge of applicable policies and regulations.
  • Experience with budgeting, and program planning and administration.
  • Perfect knowledge of Arabic and English. French is an asset.
