Transition from Violence: Lessons from the MENA Region | From May 18 to June 29, 2021

04/20/2021

8 live conversations, from May 18 to June 29, 2021

Violence and the widespread public desire to transition from violence has been a major concern in the Middle East North Africa (MENA) region for many Years.

More recently, the pandemic has increased the level of misery and dislocation in the MENA region amid fears that desperate current circumstances may trigger more violence. At the same time, the pandemic crisis may also present new opportunities for a more peaceful future in the MENA region and even a more hopeful model for the rest of the world.

To discuss these risks and opportunities, the Fondation Maison de Sciences de l’Homme is launching #IPEVLIVE, a series of eight live conversations as part of IPEV - International Panel on Exiting Violence.

#IPEVLive will take place every Tuesday at 5pm CEST from May 18 till June 29, 2021.

IPEV - International Panel on Exiting Violence is four-year project lead by the Fondation Maison des Sciences de l’Homme with the support of the Carnegie Corporation of New York to create an international and multidisciplinary community of researchers, from MENA region and beyond, to address the pressing issue of setting the path for a stable transition from violence in the whole region. The project has produced a report providing analysis and recommendations on the processes involved in exiting violence intended for decision-makers and NGOs.
