Job Vacancy at NYU Abu Dhabi: Social Research and Public Policy, Tenured/Tenure Track, Open Rank

02/23/2021
The Division of Social Science at NYU Abu Dhabi (NYUAD) is searching for new faculty to conduct important research and teach the next generation of global leaders.

You are invited to apply for a tenured/tenure-track, open-rank faculty position in the Social Research and Public Policy program. We will consider applicants with an active research agenda in all areas of theoretically-informed social research, but are especially keen on scholars working on research with a focus on Gender in the Middle East, North Africa, and South Asia (MENASA) region/global South. Within this area, we encourage applications from candidates with scholarship that complements our program’s strengths in migration, economic development, poverty, health, inequality, and demography. We particularly welcome applications from female scholars as well as members of traditionally underrepresented groups.

Applicants should provide a strong record of scholarship, and evidence of potential to develop and lead high-quality research, with national and international significance. Applicants should demonstrate an outstanding track record for their career stage, in both research and teaching. The successful candidate will be expected to develop and maintain a cutting edge, innovative, and highly visible research program; participate in student advising and mentorship; teach graduate and/or undergraduate courses in the area of women and gender in the MENASA; or develop new courses in their area of expertise, as appropriate.

The interdisciplinary composition and expertise within the Division of Social Science, as well as the Social Research and Public Policy program, will be used to expand research activities in the area of gender in the MENASA, and add greater diversity to the perspectives engaged in related discussion. NYU Abu Dhabi’s location in the Arabian Peninsula, at the intersection of the three continents of the Eastern hemisphere: Africa, Asia, and Europe makes it an ideal place for social scientists who are pursuing research agendas on gender in these world regions and beyond.
